Over the past several weeks, The Claremont Colleges have been conducting a utility mapping project that has resulted in the chalk markings on streets and sidewalks around the colleges. While most of the work is taking place on private college campuses, portions of public streets have been included in the project where underground utilities are located.
The City is working with The Claremont Colleges to ensure that pavement markings are removed within 10 days after utility locations have been documented.
The project is expected to be completed by September. The City will continue to provide updates on the project and the removal of roadway markings as information becomes available.
