November 3, 2026 General Election

Claremont is a General Law City governed by a five-member City Council. City Councilmembers are elected by geographically defined districts, each for four-year terms. The elections coincide with the Statewide General Election, held in November of even-numbered years. City Councilmembers are non-partisan positions and do not have term limits. Terms are staggered, so that two seats are voted on during one election cycle and three seats during the next cycle. The next City Council election for Districts 2, 3, and 4 will take place on November 3, 2026.

Election for Members of the City Council - Districts 2, 3 & 4

In February 2019, the City transitioned from at-large elections to a district-based election system. The by-district system divides the City into five geographic areas. Voters will select one Council candidate from their district every four years. Terms for Claremont City Council Districts 2, 3, and 4 are set to expire in November 2026. A General Municipal Election will be held on November 3, 2026, and these seats will be open to eligible candidates. Councilmembers with terms expiring are Jed Leano (District 2), Jennifer Stark (District 3), and Ed Reece (District 4).

Voters will vote for ONE City Council Candidate from their District ONLY.

In early 2022, the City went through the process of redrawing district boundary lines as required by las following a Federal Census to ensure voting district remain equitably population balanced. This created slightly adjusted district boundaries. Map 203, adopted March 22, 2022, is the current City District Map.
