Inclusionary Housing Program

Claremont's Inclusionary Housing Ordinance helps ensure that new housing development in the City includes homes affordable to low- and moderate-income households. When developers build new for-sale or rental housing with five or more units, a share of the units must be set aside as affordable, or the developer must contribute to a City fund that supports affordable housing.

City Council Study Session

At its September 8 meeting, the City Council will hold a study session to review the Ordinance and discuss how the program has operated since its implementation in 2006. The discussion will help inform the City Council’s direction to staff regarding potential next steps for the Ordinance. Community members who wish to comment may submit written comments to Senior Management Analyst Alex Cousins at acousins@claremontca.gov or provide comments in person or via Zoom during the meeting.
