Statement on ICE Operations

The Claremont Police Department would like to address an important issue affecting our country, state, and community. Recently, many community members have asked if our department is involved in immigration enforcement. In January, the CPD issued a statement that we have included below.
 
The Claremont Police Department’s mission is to keep our community safe and uphold the law. Under California Senate Bill 54, there are clear rules about how local law enforcement agencies work with federal immigration authorities. This law limits cooperation with ICE, and our department strictly follows these guidelines.
 
We want to acknowledge that immigration can be a sensitive and emotional topic with many different viewpoints. As law enforcement professionals, our role is to stay neutral and focus on enforcing the law fairly and respectfully.
