Sewer & Sanitation Rates
Notice of Annual CPI Adjustment to Sewer, Sanitation, and Street Sweeping Fees
The City of Claremont values customer service first and foremost and strives to keep our ratepayers well-informed. The City is committed to providing its ratepayers with a reliable, high-quality, and cost-efficient sewer and sanitation service that protects the health and safety of the public in an environmentally responsible manner.
The City's sewer and sanitation fee ordinances adopted June 8, 2021, provide for automatic, as-needed, adjustments to sewer, sanitation, and street sweeping rates over a five-year period to account for actual inflation. Under the ordinance, the increase in all fees shall be based upon the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for all urban customers of the Los Angeles County area, published by the United States Department of Labor Bureau of Labor Statistics for the period of March of the previous year through March of the current year, not to exceed 3.0 percent per year.
The applicable CPI for March 2024–March 2025 is 3%. Without this annual adjustment for inflation, the City would not be able to generate the funds required to operate and maintain the City’s sewer and sanitation operations, make necessary capital improvements, and to comply with regulations imposed by State and Federal agencies.
On May 13, 2025, the City Council received an informational report regarding the 3% adjustment to all sewer, sanitation, and street sweeping rates. The new rates will be effective July 1, 2025, and will be reflected on the July bill. The new rates are itemized below.
